Hulk Smash Puny City by Mike-oh

The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
Non-stop destruction. That's the name of the game. And the more you destroy, the bigger the explosions. Running through the city streets and smashing into everything in sight as the Hulk gone beserk creates a snowball effect like you've never before experienced. To call it a snowball effect is to say that it's a lot like rolling a snowball down a hill, into a snowcone stand, through a Baskin & Robbins, onto a ski slope, over a snow covered frozen pond in Central Park heavily populated by ice skaters who are all eating fudgesicles, before it smashes into the frozen food section at the local Piggly Wiggly taking out every popsicle in the place along with those really big freezers full of bags of ice and then flying through a hail storm on its way to Canada rolling up a couple of glaciers right before it smashes into Greenland causing the entire country to sink forever to the bottom of the cold North Atlantic.

Which makes this game a lot of fun. A whole lot of fun. The addictive kind of fun. It's real hard to tear yourself away from the game since it feeds you with giant helpings of power. Totally awesome power. And to make sure you never get bored, it's a cinch to keep switching back and forth between the story and these excursions to the city and the desert for a little all out massive destruction. The city is enormous and fun to explore. But almost impossible to really explore all of it because the temptation to start smashing everything usually interrupts any kind of methodical review of the city streets. And once you start smashing everything, you end up attracting the city's defenses in the form of really cool Hulkbusters along with some fairly tough tanks and Apache helicopters. All of it just fuels the fury. Smash. Smash. Smash.

Now you might be thinking that this game is all just a lot of sensless violence. But you'd be wrong. There is a lot of finesse involved in your destruction when you learn to master countless specialty moves like atomic thunderclaps and atomic ground smashes that set off giant nuclear level explosions all around you. The effect is so cool because as the explosion is building its intensity, it sucks everything within 100 yards of you into the epicenter of the explosion right before the nuclear blast is released from Hulk's mighty hands. Or try turning a car into a pair of giant metal boxing gloves, fly around the city hanging from a giant inflatible gorilla, go grinding on a flattened city bus or pick it up and throw it at your enemies like a boomerang and catch it on the way back.

This game is otally awesome, absolutely addictive, and possibly the best video game ever made. Okay, maybe top five? Top ten? It's really great. Oh, and I can't forget to mention that the character designs and packaging illustrations come from one of my favorite artists, Bryan Hitch (who totally rocks). Check out his Ultimate Hulk in the pages of the Ultimates. Bryan is the master.

Hulk smash. Smash. Smash. Smash.
